Birth of the Barbizon school
In Paris in the 19th century, the outbreak of cholera and the development of the railway network created a tendency to draw natural scenery in the suburbs, and became a Barbizon school. Later, fresh landscape paintings are loved by Westerners who are tired of urban life. Furthermore, the attitude of trying to capture the beauty of nature leads to the expression of Impressionist light.

From Barbizon to Impressionism
The name Impressionism comes from Monet's "Impression, Sunrise". The painting was criticized by critics in a satirical newspaper in Paris, and the new word "Impressionism" was coined. It expresses the sensations brought about by the landscape, such as the brilliance of bright light and the tranquility.

End of 19th century A wide variety of expressions are useful Post-impressionist

A bridge of art in the early 20th century
Post-Impressionism, a bridge of art to the early 20th century, was born in opposition to Impressionism. Although it had features such as "brilliant colors," "thick paint with volume," and "realistic and contemporary themes," it did not have a unified style because it refused to set restrictions on expression. .. Van Gogh, famous for "sunflowers," is a central figure in the Post-Impressionists.
