17th century Dutch painting

What is 17th century Dutch painting?
The 17th century Holland was a glorious era in which the economy and culture flourished like never before and the rich art of painting blossomed. It has become an important presence in Western art since the early modern period, such as (1) the emergence of new painting genres such as landscape paintings, still life paintings, and genre paintings, (2) specialization of painters, and (3) distribution of works in the art market.

"Landscape painting" with advanced specialization

One point commentary

Many Dutch landscape paintings capture flat terrain, rivers passing by, and varied skies and clouds. It has become a popular genre as the specialization of painters who specialize in the sea and painters who specialize in the mountains has progressed.

"Genre painting" with a message of moral lessons

One point commentary

Genre painting was a popular genre along with landscape paintings that are easy for citizens to understand. The subjects are wide-ranging, such as the appearance of a boy blowing soap bubbles and a mother cradling a child, many of which include messages such as moral lessons.

"Portrait" that many painters gained high fame

One point commentary

Early portraits were ordered by aristocrats and priests, but in the 17th century the general public began to draw portraits. Children's portraits were especially popular, as the whole family was depicted.
